Pure Scoops Philadelphia Style Italian Water Ice started in my father’s head many years ago. He always wanted to start a simple business for our family to run and have fun selling frozen treats together. Due to my father’s commitment to the United States Army and many unforeseen obstacles and hardships this dream faded and was nearly forgotten.
During a summer vacation trip to New York in 2017 my father and I stopped in Philadelphia for a few days. One of these days we saw a place with a sign that read “Water Ice”. We had no idea what it was, but the line outside was pretty long and that was usually a sign for us to go investigate. We waited in that line and we were not disappointed one bit once we put our tongues on the deliciousness that was inside of that small cup (I wish we would have taken a picture!).
That experience cranked up my father’s idea once again. He asked me if I would be interested in selling this product back home (EL PASO, TEXAS!!!!). I was too small at the time to truly understand this proposal, but my father eventually broke it down to my level. Simple, affordable, all natural, delicious, frozen dessert. Sold in one of the hottest cities in the nation. It made total sense to me at that moment. “Let’s do it!” I said. It took a while to save up and put everything together, but little by little our vision came together. Our biggest objective was keeping it affordable. We didn’t want to be like so many of the other frozen dessert places that can cost more than an actual meal and have you feeling guilty!!! We understand that so many are struggling during these trying times.
We went through several names, but settled with Pure Scoops (because it’s a pure product with nothing artificial)… Philadelphia Style Water Ice (because that’s exactly what it is)… Annnd From the 215 to the 915 (because it sounded cool and allowed us to show respect to not only OUR city, but give credit to where we got the idea and delicious frozen treat from).
Our journey has just begun. Help us to grow into a place that can bring more smiles to the world!
